Garden swap package!

Look what I got:

garden swap

A sweet little quilt, placemat sized, a small birdhouse, and some row markers. AND lettuce seeds. I like the way she painted the birdhouse. And lettuce! Great timing, 'cause I'm low on seeds.

Washcloth Swap

Alright. No more swaps 'til after the winter holidays. Except maybe one or two more washcloth swaps! They're fast, easy, and fun. Kind of like me. Or not.

Here's what I made my partner, ellen-j, in the last washcloth swap:

from me to ellen-j

Yep, that's one massive blue one, a regular sized red one, and a cute hand sized egg one.

Speaking of cute, it's hard to go wrong with kitties. Here's ellen-j's handcrafted gift to me:
Ohai! kittah washcloth

But wait, there's more!!
This is garnet stitch. The whole washcloth is generously sized. Too big for the internet, even. No really, the close-up is the best shot, and the full shots just don't do it justice.
garnet stitch

and that's all!
oh wait! it isn't all!
spider attak teh kittah!!!!!
oh noes!!!!!!

AND it's stealing my coffee. I'm not sure which is worse.
worst morning ever!!!

Christmas in October

I gotta bounce soon, but two things have made today awesome so far. Three things.
1) Space Monkey coffee.
2) My craftster swap partner ellen-j made some really cool washcloths for me.
3) I received a prize package from GypsyPUNK. Check the blog list to the right, and click on Hired under the crafty blogs. I'm wearing one of the pairs of earrings now. GypsyPUNK had made some really clever jewelry out of some really interesting objects.

I'll post more later! To work I must go!!!

Portland Necklaces!

Portland necklaces upcycled recycled

I made those for a swap. I made 'em outta #6 plastic from a take out container, bits from a dismantled turntable, a bird charm, and a few traditional jewelry bits. Sorry for the shitty image, but my camera cord is missing in action. Yay for scanners.

xoxo,
steph

p.s. search #6 shrink plastic on the interwebs!!!

lookie what i got!

from my anatomy swap partner...

anatomy swap craftster summer 2008 from flyraeven

Holy crap, I opened the box and immediately was even more excited. That's how my bag looked 3 minutes after I opened my swap package. I loved the patch and the pin so much I had to show 'em off at work right away. I had seen "Ortho nurses get all the breaks" on a bumper sticker a long time ago and had always wanted something with that phrase emblazoned across it. My wish was flyraeven's (my awesome partner's) command.

She also made this uterus with posable fallopian tubes and changeable faces. Yeah, you heard right. Wooo!

This is the uterine "I just got an IUD stuffed in my junk" face.

First Time Angel need

I've never been on the receiving end of a swap angel, but my partner in the "Pimp My Craftster Username" Flaked out on me. First time for everything, I guess. I had already sent her her package ages ago.

So here's what she got:
Group shot!
Pimp My Craftster Username Swap group shot

Lapblanket:
Pimp my craftster username lap blanket brown side

Otherside:
Pimp my craftster username lap blanket tan side

She mentioned that she got her name from the "Monkey see, monkey do, monkey get in trouble too!" saying, and also from the crafty inspiration craftster brings her: she sees the cool things other people make and it inspires her to give it a go. Totally could relate. Anyway, between her sentiments and a reread of the copycat issue of Craft magazine, I started thinking about ripples and concentric circles and the spread of ideas. That's why there's increasing silhouette stitching around the monkey face. That, and it holds the layers together pretty well :)

A little bookmark made of craft paper, a lightweight drawing paper, and pen and markers:

The terrible Machine

I made my first ATCs, and I made a set of six while I was at it. Some of 'em, not bad, some of 'em, not super impressed with.

My favorite:
Steampunk atc swap: Cloud and Weather Machine

Nice and simple. Note the cloud level knob and what it's turned to, please.

My least favorite:
steampunk ATC swap
With those poorly done goggles on YouKnowWho, it looks more Twilight Zone than steampunk :( Plus it's kind of busy. I vaguely like the words in the background though.

Most Cheesy:
steampunk atc hearts pipes gears

The rest:
Steampunk Series ATC: Captain Chronos and His Steam Powered Airship or something like that

Steampunk ATC swap: steam power (captain obvious)

Steampunk ATC
That last one is the one I kept. I had 5 trade partners, and have received one card so far.

Gardening Supply Swap on Craftster

I received my package in the mail yesterday.

I wanted to share this:
bucket!

It's a 5 gallon bucket organizer, designed for garden use. It's got indoor and outdoor pockets, and seems like a great way to organize your stuff for planting.

Also, el gato approves.
chzburgr?

I also received seeds, seed packets, and an apron with a bird and two pockets.

I'll post what i sent after my partner receives :) The rest of the swap gallery, if you're interested, is here.

Swaps

Ok, I've given up on Cat Number 2 going up on lolcats. My dreams are crushed. Here's the picture:
damn you, lolcat! nooooooooo!!!

I have been busy with other activities, though. Embroidering some napkins/towels for the 50's swap. Painting a _________ and crocheting a ____________ for the same swap. My partner hasn't received yet so I have to keep it a little mysterious for now.

I just signed up for the garden supply swap. At the moment, my yard is covered with patchy sod My home's previous owner thought that laying out sod with horrible plastic mesh was a good idea. Apparently, the mesh makes it easier to roll out. However, there are tons of sod bugs that are eating away at it, making it have a bit of spotted yellow appearance. Fine by me - it gives interest I suppose. The south side of the backyard, on the side of the house, is a bit of a mud pit. That's where the roses live, and where marigolds and onions will live after I get them planted. I'm going to grow most of the veggies in the back, and some in the front yard. Also, I'd like to have a bird feeder that the birds actually like, and a hummingbird feeder that the birds actually use. They liked the peanut covered pinecones, but so did the squirrels. That's okay, I like the squirrels too. I've got a few ideas for what I'm going to make, but I'll keep them on the hush hush for now.

I should mention that I got my package in the 50s swap. I love these towels:

The apron/coasters don't go with my house, but I appreciate their water resistance.

Here's why I love those towels:

Happy Sunday. I only have two more work days, then I'm off for a week!

1950s Swap

I've signed up for a 1950s swap on craftster.org. My swapmate left my options wide open, which is nice. I crocheted a bag, but I'm not sure how she'll feel about the color. I might make a little blue cloche with a brown ribbon. And something embroidered. Hmmm.
