A contagion

Everywhere I turn, Twilight Fever seems to have spread. Not to pandemic levels, but enough that one might be moderately alarmed. Or nauseated.

In this case, I can't really say I feel too queasy, because that tutorial is by one of my favorite crafty Portlanders, a generous lady who has an awesome crafty podcast. Check her out!

Lycanthropy, Mechanical Man, Zombies, Stuffed dogs

the amazing screw-on head,lycanthropy

A criminal little old lady wanted for espionage, treason, lycanthropy?

A president who communicates via a nifty flip screen thingie?

Hopefully those are enough to intrigue ya, because that's all the pics I took of the TV whilst we were watching The Amazing Screw-On Head.

We hadn't seen it until The Lovecraft Film Festival last year (maybe the year before). We got a fancy new TV (fancy = bigger than our previous 19" television) and rented a copy. Just as funny the second time. and the third and fourth and fifth times, 'cause we left it on in the background as we played Dominion.

Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, you really should.

Hollywood Makes Another White Movie

So I can't say that I've watched the Last Avatar. But I can say that I've read about it on Racialicious. One of the actors dismissed concerns about racism with stating that it wasn't a big deal, he'd just get a tan and the audience would have to suspend disbelief a bit. M.Night, what were you thinking when you went with these actors?

Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter

My sister got me the book as a Christmas gift. I figured I oughta make her something as a thank you, and since she just had a beautiful baby boy, and I needed something QUICK, the elf hat was perfect.

I started it at the PDX Crafty Vixen get together today, and finished it... later today.

It's a quick knit that's easy for beginner knitters. It's all garter stitch with easy finishing. I think I might make more hats that are based on the rectangle. While I stitched this hat for the little one, I realized that the rectangle was the basic shape of the hat that a friend's mom had made for my fiance years ago. Only THAT hat had pompoms and was stitched together slightly differently :)
