The first tomato of the season was ripe about the 17th of July. A Beaver Lodge Slicer, they were supposed to be the earliest ripening tomato out of my bunch. Earlier than all of 'em in the catalog too. Maybe it's due to the container lifestyle, but these tomatoes are ... mediocre. Really. I'd almost have a hard time telling it from a chain grocery store tomato.
I don't think I'll try 'em again. Maybe, if I have seeds left over. But last year's Tigerellas were GREAT, as were the Caro Rich tomatoes. Next year, I might try Black Krims or other purply varieties. But not Beaver Lodge.
