Mulled Apple Juice Recipe

You can also use apple cider. However, apple juice is sometimes easier to find, and you generally know what's in it. ;)

Specialish Equipment:
Crock Pot

Ingredients:
64 oz apple juice or cider
1 cup honey
capfull of vanilla, or roughly 1 tsp
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tbsp whole cloves
two pinches of nutmeg
one orange or other citrus
1 apple, peeled, cored, and sliced (granny smith and honeycrisp are two of my favorites for this)

Zest the orange. Put half of the zesty bits in the crock pot, and use the rest for potpourri or some other project. The white bits will impart a bitter flavor, so leave those bits for the compost pile!

Add the honey, then the juice. This makes it less splashy when you add the honey ;D Trust me, I'm trying to save you a bit of a mess. Add the other spices. The spices are adjustable, so don't freak out if you don't measure exactly 1/2 a tbsp of cloves. You can leave out the nutmeg. Go crazy! Heat on low for about an hour or so, and serve in coffee cups. Mmmmmmmmm, tastes like autumn. If you want to spike it, put about a cup of bourbon or whiskey. Jack Daniel's has a nutty flavor that's great with this. I've heard you can use brandy, but I haven't ever tried it.

All kinds of yummy goodness! Now I have to go eat something.

I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow, so I could come drink spiked cider with you :)
